Method for measuring the moisture absorption performance of towels

Towels are items that we can't do every day. Personal towels should be replaced immediately after a week or so. Wash hands and wash them with a dry towel. Everyone should have multiple towels. Today, we introduce three main methods for measuring the moisture absorption of towel fabrics.
First, the capillary effect measurement method
The towel fabric to be tested was cut along the warp and weft directions, and three towel strips of 20 cm in length and 3.5 cm in width were cut, and then the width was accurately removed to 3 m. At each lower end, weigh 3g glass rods, the upper end is clamped by the spring of the bracket, prepare the stopwatch and 0.5% potassium dichromate solution, and immerse the three strips in the solution at the same time. After 30 minutes, the liquid is measured. The height at which the face rises along the towel. The average of the three strips is the capillary effect of the towel fabric or simply "gray effect". This type of test method is also called the suspension method, and this method is generally used.
The capillary effect of the towel fabric has different requirements according to the difference of the weaving method and the treatment process, and the towel fabric for the backwater treatment is generally 10 cm/30 min or more. The jacquard towel fabric should generally be no less than 6cm, /30min.
Second, the sedimentation rate determination method
This method is simpler and easier, in which the towel fabric is folded flat in the water, and then it sinks and is measured by the time required for all of it to sink. A towel fabric with good moisture absorption properties will sink quickly. The method can be generally identified and applied to face towels, square towels, tea towels and partial pillows of 100 cm x 38 cm or less.
Third, the moisture absorption rate measurement method
This method of measurement is also simple and feasible. The towel fabric of 10cm×10cm will be weighed first when it is 8% of the specified moisture regain. After it is folded flat, it will be put into the water. After 1min, the weight will be weighed and the ratio of the two will be calculated. The percentage is expressed as the product. The moisture absorption rate. The formula is as follows:
Dj=W1/W×100%
Where: dj a towel fabric moisture absorption rate (%). W1 - towel fabric wet weight (g/10 x 10 cm2) W - towel fabric at 8% of the official moisture regain rate weight (g/10 x 10 cm2).
According to the above moisture absorption rate measurement method, the moisture absorption rate of the general towel fabric can reach 200% or more. China currently uses the above capillary effect measurement method. In addition, according to the moisture absorption and desorption characteristics of the cotton fiber, the towel fabric having a generally good moisture absorption property has a good moisture releasing property. A towel fabric having a better moisture absorption property is also preferable in terms of warmth and softness.
