A survey by ASSOCHAM, India's tallest industrial organization, said that in India's urban centers, nearly 35 percent of young people spend Rs. 5000 a month on clothing.
The Association of Indian Business and Industry (ASSOCHAM) interacted with 2,000 adolescents aged 13-21 years and evaluated the trend of apparel purchasing among 10 urban youths (200 respondents per city). The 10 cities are New Delhi, Mumbai, Calcutta, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, and Chandigarh. The investigation will start in March-June.

Most respondents (65%) said they like to shop with their friends, about 25% said they like to shop alone, and only 10% of respondents said they like to have family to accompany shopping. In addition, interviewees also stated that most shopping is done in the evening or the weekend after school.
1,000 respondents came from single-parent families, and 30% of them said that their monthly clothing cost is 3,000 rupees. About 55% of respondents said that their clothing costs are between 2,000-2,500 rupees, and only 15% of respondents said that their monthly clothing spending is between 1,000 and 1,500 rupees.
Youth spending on clothing in Delhi is higher than in other cities. 55% of respondents said that they spend more than 5,000 rupees each month.
Secretary-General ASSOCHAM said that fashion-conscious teenagers, both girls and boys, are more concerned with their appearance and more serious about their wear.
It is worth noting that most of the buying impulses are generated when browsing store merchandise. In addition, the survey also showed that young Indians like new and interesting costumes, and strongly like to wear modern clothing and favor branded clothing.
Nike is the most sought-after sportswear brand among young people, and 25% of respondents agree with the brand's quality control. Adidas (20%) ranked second in the sportswear brand category. The remaining respondents stated that they prefer Reebok, Puma, Woodland and Fila.
In casual wear, Levis is the most popular brand, followed by Lee, Wrangler, Flying Machine, Pepe Jeans London, Diesel, Spykar, K Lounge (K -Lounge) and Numero Uno cowboys.
