H&M will open 225 new stores worldwide this year

H&M, the Swedish cheap clothing chain, said the company will open 225 stores worldwide this year.

The Wall Street Journal reported that H&M will open 5 to 6 new storefronts in China this year. The first Chinese store has officially opened in Qianmen Street in Beijing recently. This is the first time that the company has entered Beijing and will later open a second store in Xidan. This is also the first time that large foreign companies have entered the Qianmen Street area where state-owned enterprises and long-established businesses have entered.

In addition, H&M will also open new stores in the Middle East and Japan, and will enter South Korea in 2010.

As of February this year, H&M has more than 1,748 stores worldwide.
